Twice a month, around the time of the new and the full moon, very large tides develop and you will see a spectacular rise and fall of the water.

Here are the tide calendars for San Felipe for 2010.

Note the huge tidal variations that occur around the time of the full and new moon. These are the "astronomical" high tides caused by the combined effect of the pull of gravity when the sun, earth and moon are aligned.
