Pictures taken in Town Friday 26 September 1997

Avenida Mar de Cortez looking south from the junction with the Malecon. Yolanda Tafoya's YET Mail service is on the left hand side of the picture, the Miramar Bar is adjacent to the power pole and the Corona Bar and Baja Market are on the right hand side of the street. Yolanda's store was 2 feet deep in water.

Yolanda Tafoya, seated here, has moved her mail service into the vacant Situr building on the Malecon. She is already hard at work making sure that mail to and from the USA is maintained with the minimum of disruption.

Jesse's barber shop at the end of the Malecon was badly battered by the storm. The foundations were undermined.

Boats end up in strange places. This is the basketball court at the end of the Malecon. This road, which leads up to Medina's Building Supplies was impassable when we took this photo. Flood waters from Av. Mar Caribe had rushed down here to get to the sea.
