TONY REYES BOAT - OCT 2 TRIP Once again I'm coming from Texas for a second time on the "TONY REYES" for some incredible deep sea fishing on the Sea of Cortez. I knew what to expect but I shill have things to learn. I'm not a beginner anymore. Still need "guidance" though and that's why Juan is there. He was my guide last year. Very knowledgeable of the areas where we fished. First we fished the "ISLA PARTIDA". Massive sized Yellow Tails. Almost 40 pounders....A real fun fight. And a mixture of Shark, Pargo, Trigger, Cabrilla and Pinto Bass. All nice size. And good eating. We moved back south to San Fransisquito. Hurricane "OTIS" never bothered us, but we did catch some NW winds. No problem. Still caught Big Yellow Tails, Cabrillas and some Grouper beauties weighing in at 105 and 100 pounds. Had lots of fun catching the humble Squids at night. What fun. More friends again. Next trip for me will be La Paz. Just to get the experience. Gracias Juan "My Guide" and the whole tony Reyes crew. BOAT TRIP OCT/2-7/2005 We left from San Felipe B.C. at 11:30 a.m. The sea was nice and calm. We had a report from the Hurricane "OTIS" that it could hit the Sea of Cortez with heavy winds and lots of rain. We arrived to the Middriff Islands without problems on Monday. It was cloudy with some light breezes from the SW. Everybody caught nice Yellowtails on live bait around Raza and Partida Islands. Later we moved to San Francisquito Bay, where we found lots of live bait, lots of Humboldt Squids and big Yellowtails from 24-34 lb . They were biting with live bait, chunk bait and jigs. Two big groupers were landed in the same area. One weighed 105 pounds and was caught by Bob Berryman from Tustin CA. The other was caught by Marcos Meza, one of the guides of the 'TONY REYES" boat. Later the wind blew hard from the NW. This limited the area to fish. We ended up the trip with nice weather. Thanks Tony Reyes Jr. |
