Tony Reyes Highlights for Trip
8/14 to 8/19/05
Day 1:
Anticipation levels were through the roof and no one was disappointed. We motored south to isle Partida at first light we were on the reef in a wide open, Yellow tail bite with many fish 25 lb plus. Making bait the night before was insane. The marks were practically jumping in the boat. Two nice Grouper were also boated in the midst of the Yellow Tail bite a 60 pounder by Joe Ziemann and a 40 lb by Mike Palhegyi.

Day 2:
Further south to San Lorenzo Island. First panga to the reef was Scotty who instantly hooked up and boated a 50lb White Sea Bass. More 25 lb plus Yellows and 21 Broomtails to 25lbs. We also caught a few Dorado, trolling feathers, from spot to spot. In the afternoon, we headed across to San Francisquito fishing slowed a bit; still catching Yellowtail although a little smaller and more, Dorado on the troll.
That night bait was getting tough, but the giant squid went wide open around midnight. The big squirters were running 15-25 lbs.
Day 3:
We stayed a San Francisquito. Fishing was slowing considerably; with the full moon coming on strong. A Mixed bag of small, Yellows, Cabrilla, Spotted Bass, Sheep head and Pargo.
Day 4:
We turned around and headed back north to Puerto Refugio where Grouper was the talk of the day. Numerous Groper bite reported, with lots of stories about blown up gear and the one that got away. Still managed to boat two of the bruisers; an 80 pounder, wrestled in by Herky Stapleton backed up by a 40pounder caught, by his brother in-law, Vince Foglia.
Last Day:
At the Enchanted Island, fishing was still tough, due to the full moon and no bait; however, several boats managed nice catches of Cabrilla caught trolling Mirr-o-lures.
Weather for August was absolutely beautiful, with calm winds and temp in the mid to upper 90’s
Thanks to all the, Tony Reyes Crew. Their service and organization are second to none!
I recommend that you bring good quality heavy fishing gear; the fish is tough!!!
Thanks again and see you next year.
