TONY REYES FISHING TOURS
B/M TONY REYES
SAN FELIPE, BAJA MEXICO
Monday November 22 to Wednesday December 8, 2004.
After a 15 day trip the B/M "Tony Reyes" returns to San Felipe. The motive
of the trip was to know and explore new sites and areas for sport fishing
along the Mexican coast line. We navigated south on the Baja California
route, (then) at the "La Catalana" island we crossed in the direction of
the coast of Sinaloa, reaching the port of Mazatlan, Sinaloa. After on
loading some provisions we then headed toward "Isabel" island which is
about 35 miles southwest of the "Islas Marias". In "Maria Madre" island
there is a prison and it has an imaginary circular line 30 nautical miles
wide, to mark the security limits of this island. "Isabela" Island is of
volcanic origin covered by tropical type flora, in the interior of the
island there are pineapple plants, banana and coconut palms and sugar
cane. The crater in the island forms a lake when it is filled with rain
water during the storm season. There are Iguanas everywhere; it is also a
haven for the Booby and Frigate birds. Fishing off of this Island is good,
capturing Dorados, Tuna, Sierra and Wahoos being the largest one a
specimen weighing 88 Lbs. taken by Marcos Meza O. After that we made way
to "Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
Despues de 15 dias de viaje regresa a puerto de San Felipe, B.C. el B/M
"Tony Reyes". El motivo del viaje fué el de conocer y explorar nuevos
lugares y areas de pesca deportiva por el litoral Mexicano. Se navegó
rumbo al sur tomando la ruta de la Baja California, en la isla La Catalana
se cruzó en dirección de las costas de Sinaloa, llegando al puerto de
Mazatlán Sin. Despues de cargar algunas provisiones partimos rumbo a la
isla "La Isabel" que se ubica a 35 millas al suroeste de las "Islas
Marias". En la Isla Maria Madre existe una prisión y hay una linea
circular imaginaria de 30 millas naúticas que marca los límites de
seguridad de ésta isla. La Isla Isabela es de origen volcánico cubierta de
flora tipo tropical, encontrando en su interior planta de piña, palmas de
plátano, palma de coco, y cañas. El crater de la Isla forma un lago al
llenarse de agua en la temporada de ciclones en el verano. Hay iguanas por
todos lados, tambien es criadero del "Pato Bobo" y la "Tijeretas", la
pesca en ésta isla es buena capturando Dorados, Atunes, Sierras y
"Wahoos", siendo el más grande de 88 libras, capturado por Marcos Meza O.
