Tony Reyes' Fishing Report October 19 - October 24, 2003
We arrived Sat. the 18th, roads were good and had a great trip.
Saturday night after loading the boat with our gear, we went downtown to
dinner and a few drinks and have rum with the locals. Saturday night got
to the boat and went to bed in the boat. Left early on the tide and we
awoke somewhere below Bay of Los Angeles.
The crew got the pangas off and loaded our gear and after a great
breakfast we left on our first fishing trip. We (all twleve) caught
quite a few fish and the weather was wonderful. (A beautiful sunrise!)
Had a fabulous lunch and super dinner. Dennis got the biggest fish and
Joal and Sharky, the most fish (dam).
Oh well, Tuesday (another absolutely beautiful morning) all of the
rest of us swore to get even. Again, the weather was just super and once
again a great breakfast and out to fish. Who won that day, I don't know
but most of us were sore from hauling in yellowtail and cabrilla. Just a
fabulous day and again food to die for.
Third day, a lot in the morning and then a lot of wind making it
hard to fish (nobody seasick). Again I have to let you know I don't know
who had the most fish or the biggest. As always the food was just
fabulous. Nights were very warm only cooler later on.
Fourth day, waking up to such a beautiful sunrise is always a treat.
Breakfast and after some Mescal, we got started. A slow day for the most
part but some did just fine and most were sore from hauling in
yellowtail and other species. Afternoon was quite rough but again we all
did our best and we had a great time. I must state at the time Tony Jr.,
the skipper, is always on time and always there for any problem. What a
wonderful guy! Also Tony's crew has just been the best - outside or
getting a shower when we wanted and we always did. I want to add they were
a fabulous bunch of guys.
Day five and I'm writing this on a bunk and have had a couple of
drinks. Today was absolutely flat, but grew to reasonably very rough by
12:00. Some came in as it was only a half day and then home, but again some
came in with a whole lot of fish and then started to pack up for home.
To Tony Jr. And to Tony Sr., to the crew, our many thanks for a most
memorable trip. By the way folks, if you've never thought about doing a
trip like this, then I have to say to you: RECONSIDER IT. It could be the
most wonderful trip to one of the most primitive places on this planet and
some of the most dedicated people to make your trip wonderful and
memorable. This is my second trip and not my last. A very satisfied patron
with mucas gracias. - Dana Duncan
