Tony Reyes' Fishing Report June 8 - June 13, 2003
Sunday: We left San Felipe about 10:00 a.m. with many
regulars and a few newbies. On the trip down, we got our rods and reels
ready for action.
Monday: We started fishing at Isla Partida with some success
on the Yellowtail. We moved to Isla Salsipuedes in the afternoon.
Usually a hot spot, this time it was slow going.
Tuesday: We moved to Estaban Island overnight and we got into
some hot Yellowtail action, with fish in the 20 pound range. Helen and
Dan Springer fishing with Reuben were hot sticks, throwing surface iron.
In the afternoon, the Jacob panga with guide, Antonio, landed a jackpot
winning 55 pound Grouper.
Wednesday: We fished Snake Island for great Yellowtail
fishing. We chased birds all day for huge Yellows in the 25 pound to 40 pound
range. All the pangas loaded up with top fish. Honors going to Rich
Waldren, with a 40 pound and Helen Springer with a personal best of 32
pounds.
Thursday: We awoke at Refugio Bay, made bait and fished
Cabrilla and Yellows. We moved after lunch to the Peninsula and fished
for White Seabass. At night, we got into the giant Squid with the deck
looking like a war zone with water and ink. The largest was in the 30
pound range.
Friday: We fished the Enchanted Islands for lots of Spotted
Bass, Pargo, Triggers and Yellows until 12:00 when we had lunch and
headed for port.
What a great trip with a wonderful group of passengers and crew.
Thanks to Tony Sr. And Tony Jr., all the guides, and Ernesto and his
helper, Beto, who provided superb food. The weather was also very mild
which added to the enjoyment. We are all looking forward to next year.
