Tony Reyes' Fishing Report July 6 - July 11, 2003
Departed San Felipe at 10:55 AM Sunday morning for the Midriff to
fish. We consisted of the same group that has been fishing together for
many years in the Sea of Cortez. Of the 18 fishermen we had only one new
person.
Our first stop was Monday morning at Cardenosa. The Yellow Tail
fishing was awesome and they were in the 14-20 lb. range. That evening
we headed to San Franciquito to make bait and fish early Tuesday
morning.
The Yellow Tail fishing was outstanding and all the fish were in the
25-34 lb. range. This was a special prize day. Whoever caught the
biggest Yellow Tail would win a Cal Star Rod. Which was won by Jeffrey
Brake with a 34.8 Yellow Tail on 40 lb. test lijo.
We fished that area until Wednesday Noon when we departed for
Salispuedas to fish mostly for Cabrilla. Wednesday night we traveled to
Refugio to make bait and fish for quality Cabrilla on Thursday AM.
Thursday afternoon the wind was blowing rather hard so we cancelled
the fishing and traveled to the Enchanted Islands to make bait and fish
there on Friday before heading home.
What a terrific trip with the greatest group of fishermen and crew.
We extend our gratitude to Tony Sr. and Tony Jr., all the pangueros,
Ernesto & Raul that really outdid themselves with outstanding meals.
Thanks again. See you 2004.
