The Tony Reyes boats depart from San Felipe during the Spring-Fall seasons and travel down to the Midriff Islands. In the winter, one of the boats moves down to La Paz and you can then fish in a completely different environment. Check out his web pages through the links below.

If you just want to go for a half day or day trip in a local panga, you can arrange that on the north end of the Malecon where you will see boats pulled up on the beach. Start early if you want to go out to the Konsag Rock - a seamount visible directly to the East which is a wildlife refuge. This "island" is the tip of an old volcanic lava flow, very similar to the Machorro and Kila peaks at the North end of San Felipe, that is mostly submerged. Landing there is very difficult but the fishing and bird colonies are something to experience.

For landlubbers, desert adventures are the thing to try. You can rent off-road vehicles from San Felipe OffRoad and they will work out a complete expedition for you. There are wonderful places to visit, like abandoned mines, dry lakes, the giant cactus valley, fossil beds, waterfalls in the foothills... this is truly an explorers paradise. Winter is the best time for the desert, up to late May. Beyond that you have to be well prepared for desert survival.
