WRITE GROUP by Lynne M Ruegger

The WRITE GROUP first met on June 22, 1997 with thirteen writers in attendance. Many of those original members have relocated, passed on, or for one reason or another no longer attend, but one has remained faithful to see that the group continued.

A couple of years ago, the El Dorado Ranch came up with a cookbook which was coordinated by Lynne Ruegger, the same faithful member still with the group. With recipes from members of El Dorado Ranch and local food establishments, and financed by El Dorado Ranch, the "El Dorado Ranch Mostly Mexican Cookbook" came together. The proceeds benefit students at the Cobach (San Felipe High School) who are interested in writing. This fund also helped with supplies to start and continue their school paper. Lynne has another cookbook out now to help add to this fund. If you would like to help with this worthwhile project, and get some great new recipes in the process, be sure to order one of these cookbooks from Lynne ($7.00 each plus S&H) at lynne@canela.sanfelipe.com.mx or for more information about the writers group.

The WRITE GROUP is not the food-fair type group found frequently calling themselves a writing group. They actually work on writing and critiquing each others work to improve the quality of stringing words together for others to enjoy. The group continues to meet at 10 AM through Noon every Saturday at El Cachanilla Clubhouse. It is located on Saltito Road (where the big Crocodile sign is on the highway north of town) in the El Cachanilla Campground which is one of El Dorado Ranch's facilities.

Even if you have never written before, this group can give you many shortcuts to publication. Writers of any field are warmly welcome to join this group whether on a full-time basis or for an activity while you are on vacation. Feel free to bring some of your writing to have critiqued or simply to share with other writers. There is no charge--that means it's FREE.

P.S. Living on earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around

the sun!
