Object of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of serviceas a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage andfoster:

FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity forservice;

SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions, therecognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and thedignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to servesociety;

THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian'spersonal, business, and community life;

FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill,and peace through a world fellowship of business and professionalpersons united in the ideal of service.

Professional Networking: A founding principle of Rotary wasto provide a forum for professional and business leaders. Members areleaders in business, industry, the professions, the arts, government,sports, the military, and religion. They make decisions and influencepolicy. Rotary is the oldest, most prestigious service club organizationin the world.

The Opportunity to Serve: Rotarians provide service at boththe community and international levels. Service programs address healthcare needs, hunger and poverty, illiteracy, disaster relief, andenvironmental cleanups, to name a few. Family Foundations: Rotary sponsors some of the world'slargest youth exchange and educational exchange and scholarshipprograms. Rotary clubs provide innovative training opportunities andmentoring for future leaders. They involve family members in a widerange of social and service activities.

Ethical Environment: Rotarians practice a 4-Way Test thatmeasures words and actions by their truthfulness, fairness, goodwill,and benefit to all. Encouraging high ethical standards in one'sprofession and respect for all worthy vocations has been a hallmark ofRotary from its earliest days.

Information on San Felipe's Rotary Clubs

San Felipe Rotarians are business and professional leaders orretirees who take an active role in the community while greatly enriching their personal and professional lives. Our Rotary clubscontain a diverse group of Mexican, American, Canadian and othernationalities who are leaders in the San Felipe community.

Membership in a San Felipe Rotary club offers a number of benefits, including:

  • Gaining an understanding of Ð and having an impact on Ð international humanitarian issues.
  • Developing relationships with community and business leaders.

Through Rotary's service programs, our Rotary clubs have asignificant effect on the quality of life in our community. Other RotaryFoundation programs offer our clubs opportunities to form internationalpartnerships and help people in need worldwide. Some 1.2 millionRotarians in 30,000 clubs in more than 160 countries make significantcontributions to the quality of life at home and around the globe.

San Felipe has two Rotary clubs to serve the community, described below.

Club Rotario Del Mar de Cortez, AC

This Rotary Club is comprised of Mexican and American men and womenwho are residents of San Felipe and are dedicated to improving the quality of life in this community. A primary concern of this club is topromote education and improve the schools so that our future leaderswill be equipped to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Club Rotario Del Mar de Cortez is forging strong relationships withother educationally oriented groups in San Felipe. By working incooperation with these groups, the club foresees a new era of growth inour ranks and progress for San Felipe.

The tasks before the club are many and additional help is needed. Asa responsible and committed club, we desire to develop a workingrelationship with clubs in the United States and Canada. Although ournumbers are small, each member is determined to recruit others who areseriously concerned about making a difference in our community.

This club meets on Thursdays at 5 p.m. at the Tatoo Rose Cafe (the old Corona in Ave. Mar de Cortez)ll. Themeetings are primarily conducted in Spanish but interpretation isoffered for English speaking members and guests.

The Rotary Club of San Felipe North (English)

Members of the Rotary Club of San Felipe North are business and professional leaders or retirees who take an active role in the community while greatly enriching their personal and professional lives. This club contains a diverse group of Mexican, American, Canadian and other nationalities who are leaders in the San Felipe community.

Through a variety of service programs, this club has had a significant effect on the quality of life in the community. In the short time since the club was formed (April 2003) it has performed a variety of public service projects. These projects include libraries in the schools, eyeglasses for children in need, reading glasses for older people, facility improvements at the Campo Cristiano foster care home, assistance in the construction of a home for the elderly, scholarships for elementary and high school students, assistance to families and individuals with special needs, and Outstanding Service Awards to local employees. In addition to continuing work in most of these projects the club is supporting the formation of an Interact Club (Rotary club for people under 18) at the high school. The Rotary Club of San Felipe North (English) meets on Mondays at 8a.m. at the Tatoo Rose Cafe (the old Corona in Ave. Mar de Cortez).
